Commercial television is a model of television company which operates towards commercial goals, primarily profit. Sky is an example of a commercial television company. In stark contrast to Public Service Television, commercial television channels often show advertisements, sometimes in the for of sponsorship deals prior to, and directly following programming. Some commercial television channels, for example Sky Sports, operate both on an advertisement and subscription basis. Private Capital is also used to fun commercial channels, meaning that other companies may directly or indirectly contribute to programming.
